Exemptions towards the qualifications
Where people have already achieved qualifications in Information Technology, it may be possible to obtain an exemption from some of the Optional Units of the iTQ.
Common examples include European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), NEW CLAIT, CLAIT plus and Certificate in e-Quals.
Please ask for more details if you think you may have qualifications that apply.
Further Information
The course includes assessment by the assessor at the employer’s premises. It is preferable that you are employed, as much of the coursework also involves assignments/assessments based around your job-role. These include a number - maybe 3 to 6 - of (unobtrusive) observation-based assessments at work and we usually work closely with your line manager in the practical arrangements. Most employers are really supportive about you attending the training and taking part in the programme, as they recognise the value to their business of your gaining new skills and a valuable nationally-recognised qualification.
The duration of the programme is not fixed, and can depend on extra-curricular time that you can commit, as well as the flexibility of your employer and your own self-discipline. Normally, you should allow 12 - 26 weeks to complete the course.
