Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care (Level 2 & 3)

 

Who the qualification is for?

 This Apprenticeship is ideal if you want to train for a career in the Health and Care sector. It is suitable for those who work within the Care sector age from 16 to 60+.

 Apprentices must be employed for a minimum of 16 hours per week. It will take 9 to 12 months to finish each level of the apprenticeships.

 

Apprenticeship

In completing Apprenticeship the learner will achieve the following qualifications:

 

  • Apprenticeship Level 2 or 3
  • Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care
  • Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)

 

Apprenticeships contain:

         -Competence-based element (Diploma at level 2)

-Knowledge-based element (Technical Certificate)

-Functional Skills (Maths and English at level 1, ICT at level 2)

         -Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)

 

Advanced Apprenticeships contain:

 

  • Competence-based element (Diploma at level 3)
  • Functional Skills (Maths and English at level 1, ICT at level 2)
  • Knowledge-based element (Technical Certificate)
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)

 

Exemptions from Functional skills

 

Candidates who possess a GCSE grade A-C in English and Maths.

Or

Candidates who possess Key Skills in Application of Number and Communication.

 

Apprenticeship Level 2: students must achieve a minimum of 46 credits.

  • Group A: minimum of 2 credits and a maximum of 7 credits. *
  • Group B: at least 15 credits. *



Apprenticeship Level 3: students must achieve a total of 58 credits.

Optional units from:

  • Group A: minimum of 2 credits and a maximum of 7 credits. *
  • Group B: at least 23 credits. *
  •  

Depending on the pathway chosen (Dementia or Learning disability) the apprentice has to take specific subjects.

 

The combined credits from Groups B and C must total at least 30 credits.

At least 35 credits must be achieved at, or above the level of the qualification.
