Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeship for IT Application Specialist
(Level 2 & 3)
Who is the qualification for?
The IT Application Specialist Apprenticeship is ideal for anybody using IT in all areas of the working environment, for example:
• Accounts • Administration • Management
• Design and Printing • Education and training • Secretarial
• Engineering • Manufacturing
An Apprenticeship is ideal for people who do not want to pursue a general education route but who are still keen to keep learning as they work. They are a great way of getting workplace experience whilst also achieving nationally recognised qualifications.
There are two levels of this qualification: Intermediate Apprenticeship at Level 2 and Advanced Apprenticeship at Level 3. It is recommended that people becoming an Apprentice start at Level 2 and then progress to Level 3.
Exemptions: you are entitled to functional skills exemptions if you have the following qualifications
From If you have already achieved
FS Maths Either GCSE grade C or above or Key skills qualification in AoN (min Level 1)
FS English Either GCSE grade C or above or Key skills qualification in Literacy (min Level 1)
FS ICT Key skills qualification in ICT (min Level 2)
Apprenticeship Framework
In completing Apprenticeship the learner will achieve the following qualifications:
• Intermediate/Advanced Level Apprenticeship for IT Application Specialist
• Level 2/3 ITQ Diploma for IT User Skills
• ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence)
• Functional Skills: Maths at Level 1/2, English at Level 1/2 and ICT at Level 2
• ERR - Employment Rights & Responsibilities - covers the relevant areas of employment law and workplace practices and procedures.
Typically the Intermediate level should be completed within 6 – 9 months, and the Advanced level should be completed within 12 months.
