Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeship for IT Users (Level 2 & 3)
Introduction
Apprenticeships are for people aged between 16-60+ who are keen to develop a career through being employed, whilst also undertaking vocational and other framework qualifications towards their chosen career. Usually, students undertake the programme in the workplace, sometimes with assignments in their own time; within the programme there is also generally regular time away from the workplace at the Apprentice's College or Training Provider for training, which may be a certain number of proscribed hours or days per week. Apprentices are paid a salary by their employer and study towards an Intermediate (level 2) or Advanced (level 3) Vocational Qualification. Most Apprenticeship frameworks also include Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT and a Technical Certificate, as well as a paper on Employment Rights and Responsibilities.
Who are these qualifications for?
The IT User Apprenticeships are ideal for anybody using IT in all areas of the working environment, for example:
Accounts; Administration; Management; Design and Printing; Education and Training; Secretarial; Engineering; Manufacturing.
An Apprenticeship is ideal for people who do not want to pursue a general education route but who are still keen to keep learning as they work. They are a great way of getting workplace experience whilst also achieving nationally recognised qualifications. There are two levels of this qualification: Intermediate Apprenticeship at Level 2 and Advanced Apprenticeship at Level 3. It is recommended that people becoming an Apprentice start at Level 2 and then progress to Level 3.
